KPFF is providing structural engineering services for a 1.3 mile long open-air museum dedicated to celebrating the history and culture of Black Americans. This first outdoor project of its kind in Los Angeles strategically uses an iconic city street name to anchor and provide the context for public artwork and streetscape design. It will formally establish and memorialize an African American neighborhood and set the tone for the community’s revitalization. The outdoor art museum is expected to open in 2024 with the opening of the new rail line. Structural engineering services include full construction documents for bike stand displays, bus stand displays; wall panel displays; new street signage; sign monument; retaining walls; light poles; miscellaneous furniture anchorage design; shade structures; and elevated terrace design.
